Corinne Ehrfurth has taught a variety of composition, literature, and education courses at Mayo High School, University of Wisconsin-Madison, Madison College & HKIS (Hong Kong International School). One high school elective, Humanities Search, inspired the topic of her M.A. English Studies’s thesis: analyzing tenets of Hinduism espoused in contemporary Indian novels. More recently, her work training new teachers at UW-Madison is folded into her doctoral concentrations of Visual Cultures and GWS. In addition to her passion for researching cultures and viewpoints expressed in literature and spaces, her professional values lead her into efforts that try to increase articulation between all levels of a student‘s education and student’s self-advocacy and awareness skills.
Currently, Ehrfurth advises Mayo’s new Literature Club and volunteers her 200-hr RYT to fit student and community requests. Past community responsibilities include facilitating Link Crew’s freshman transition intervention, serving as the chair of Mayo‘s English Department, and working in a Small Learning Communities Grant position that provided time to collaborate with Rochester Community and Technical College instructors. She also served as the MCTE secondary co-chair with Scott Hall, coached high school volleyball, and represented graduate students on committees at UW-Madison.
In addition to the above experiences, served as a dedicated Upward Bound instructor at St. Olaf College for about a dozen summers and recently worked as a CAP instructor at UW-Madison. Her teaching practicum occurred at the HKIS, where she decided that teaching and traveling were the two t’s that she would treasure for the rest of her life!
